President – Kay A. Liss
Welcome to Temple David! As a member of Temple David for over 40 years, I am now in my third year as the President of Temple, and proud to say that volunteerism remains a very strong presence within our walls.
Our Sisterhood and Brotherhood are both dynamic and energetic. They offer many educational and social opportunities, sponsor guest speakers, and prepare delicious Jewish foods. At the right time of the year, you must taste their homemade Hamantaschen! Their financial support of Temple is generous and much appreciated.
Our all-volunteer committees are: Ritual, Religious/Social Action, House, Weiger Religious School, ALLEC (Adults Learning and Education Committee), Membership and Fundraising. These committees encompass all the functions of Temple. You’re a member and want to get involved? Give us a call and we’ll find the perfect place for your talents!
Of course, our youngest Temple members are also very busy. Weiger Religious School, led by Rabbi Barbara AB Symons, is tasked with teaching our children to be active, engaged Jews. Our classes are small and led by well -trained teachers. In addition to special programming for all the holidays, the curriculum this year focuses on Jewish Values and how we live them.
For all of us, 2018 is an important one, as Temple David begin its 60th year as the center for Jewish life in the Eastern suburbs. We are very proud of our history. Throughout the coming year our celebration will feature many activities and programs, including the Art in Residence Weekend in April. Check our calendar and come join us for one or all of our activities.
We are a House of Prayer, a House of Learning and a House of Gathering. I invite you to visit us at Temple David.
