Adult Education

A.L.L.E.C. (Adult Learning and Life Experiences Commission)

The goal of ALLEC is to encourage each adult member of the congregation to experience Judaism through a variety of educational programs which will strengthen ones understanding of and involvement with our religion and traditions. This goal is achieved through a variety of activities such as informal discussion groups, speakers, “field trips” and formal courses offered at different levels.  Classes and courses may include Hebrew, Bible, literature or history.  ALLEC schedules Friday evening speakers during and after Shabbat services. This Commission also arranges for The Florence Melton Mini-School to be offered at Temple David as an educational program in the eastern suburbs.  ALLEC holds meetings on a monthly basis and seeks members who are interested in Jewish education.

Some of the recent programs have included:

  • Tour of Rodef Biblical Gardens
  • Florence Melton Mini-School
  • Hebrew classes for students of many levels
  • Book review group
  • Sister Del Duca – Founder/Director of Seton Hill Holocaust Center
  • Jessica Feldman – Director of Howard Levin Clubhouse
  • Marshall Dayan – Assistant Federal Public Defender
