Adult Education

ALLEC (Adult Learning and Life Experiences Commission)

The goal of ALLEC is to encourage each adult member of the congregation to experience Judaism through a variety of educational programs that will strengthen our understanding of, and involvement with, our religion and traditions. This goal is achieved through a variety of activities such as informal discussion groups, speakers, and formal courses offered at different levels.  Classes and courses may include Hebrew, Bible, literature or ethics. ALLEC holds monthly meetings and welcomes Temple members who are interested in encouraging adult Jewish education.

Some of the recent programs have included:

  • Book reviews
  • 9 in 9, a monthly series of classes on established topics led by Rabbi Symons
  • Shabbaton – a Shabbat devoted to worship, study and relaxation
  • Monthly discussion group on Jewish ethics led by Rabbi Symons
