Information for Parents:

STUDENT SERVICES on SUNDAY MORNINGS

PreK/K, 1st & 2nd Grades – 9:45 to 10:15 AM
3rd to 7th Grade – 10:30 to 11:00 AM

Parents are encouraged to attend services with their children. We strongly encourage families to attend as many services as possible. This serves to reinforce and put into use what your children have learned in religious school.

ILLNESS

When a student is determined to be too ill to attend regular school, they should not attend Religious School that day. It is important that students not come to school if they show signs of a cold or are running a fever. If there ever is a question as to whether or not to send a student to class, please err on the side of caution and keep them at home. We will provide hand sanitizer and tissues in all classrooms, but we need your help to keep all of our students healthy.

TUTORING

Students who have met the attendance requirement yet have not learned Hebrew commensurate to the level of their class will be offered in-school tutoring to be brought to grade level. Students who are new to our school and are not at grade level will be responsible for paying for an approved private tutor outside of class time in Hebrew and Judaica.

EARLY DISMISSAL

If your child needs to be dismissed early, please send a note to the school office at the beginning of the school session. The note, signed by the child’s parent or guardian, should include the following information:  student’s name and grade; reason for early dismissal; time of early dismissal; name of the person picking up the student.  For the child’s safety, the person meeting the student must come to the School Office at the time of the early dismissal. A Weiger Religious School staff member will then go to the classroom to get them. No student will be dismissed from class until the person picking them up arrives. Please do not interrupt the educational process by entering the classrooms while classes are in session.

SCHOOL CANCELLATION

Due to inclement weather will be announced on KDKA-TV – Channel 2 and WTAE-TV – Channel 4 and WPXI Channel 11 & their web sites. The Religious School also will attempt to notify each student’s family by email. Also, an announcement will be recorded on the School’s answering machine:                  (412) 372-1206!!!

Obviously, parents/guardians should use their own judgment. If school is in session but you do not feel comfortable driving in the weather conditions, stay home!

The Weiger School office will notify parents/guardians of any other changes that may occur in the Weiger School calendar.
