Dear Member,

I’m writing to bring you up to speed on Temple David Brotherhood. Whether you are a past member, an active renewing member, or a member of Temple David congregation who has not yet joined Brotherhood, we would welcome and appreciate your membership and involvement this year as we look forward to opening up our programs to more in person and outdoor events as Covid mandates and protocols continue to relax.

Temple David Brotherhood’s mission is to provide the men of the Temple David congregation a venue to plan and participate in social events and activities with one another, to support Temple events planned by other committees, and to provide Temple David membership with high value educational and informational opportunities related to relevant topics not covered by other Temple committees.

How specifically do we help Temple and our congregation? Over the past several years, TD Brotherhood has been proud to present the Temple with an annual $1,000 donation toward operations. The majority of our income comes from member dues, and voluntary donations made by attendees and participants of our programs. With that, Brotherhood funds our programs, and also provides gifts for B’nai Mitzvah and Religious School Confirmands. We’ve had to move to a virtual format for many of our recent meetings and programs, but we’ve continued to stay active and look forward to more in person events moving forward!

Upcoming Events

Maccabiah Games: Sports activities for the entire family! Brotherhood is planning to sponsor a kind of TD Olympics, or Maccabiah Games, during the August 20 picnic. Would you be interested in coordinating a game?  Maybe a sport or game that you and your family know well and would enjoy playing? If so, please let us know!

We will be rescheduling a date for a luncheon event with cartoonist Rob Rogers.

And there are many more ideas–see the Temple Calendar for the next Brotherhood meeting and sponsored events!

How Can You Help?

We are proud of the service that we provide the Temple, and we’re looking forward to getting more Temple members involved in generating new ideas for programs, fundraising, and social functions this year. We generally meet on the third Sunday of every month, and our meetings are posted on the Temple calendar. If you are a member of Brotherhood, but not very involved, please plan to attend just one of our virtual meetings this year, and bring an idea with you for us to discuss.

Please consider joining and getting involved to whatever degree you feel is appropriate or possible – we’re happy to see you whenever you can find the time to join us!

Thanks, and we’re looking forward to seeing you sometime soon at a meeting or upcoming event!

Sincerely,

Steve Lippock,
TD Brotherhood President
