Interfaith Gathering On the Move!

Our first interfaith gathering since the pandemic was a fun success! We socialized and noshed, of course! We got to know each other a little better and exchanged ideas for future activities.

Everyone was on board to commit to attending one Friday night Shabbat service a month, with an extended oneg allowing us to socialize! That service will be the first Friday of the month. Please join us!

We like the ideas of meeting in a restaurant (private room, conducive for talking), volunteering at a food bank, and taking a day trip. We also created some questions for the Rabbi for future discussion.

Generally, what evolved was an expression of interest to move forward together, enriching our relationships within Temple David, and our surrounding community, socialization, friendship, and venturing out for some fun.

If you were unable to join us in June, please know you can join the momentum anytime to become a part of our adventure!

Call me or email me anytime with questions, ideas, or just to chat!

Let’s Do This!

Jewish Residential Services
Second Community Living Arrangement Opens

On May 5th, Jewish Residential Services and Verland celebrated the opening of their second joint community living arrangement (CLA), the Solomon House. The outdoor, socially distanced event included a ceremony officiated by Rabbi Barbara Symons, and remarks by Councilman Corey O’Connor and Ed Solomon, for whose parents the house is named.

Ellen Wilf explained why the Solomon House is so important to her family and her son David, a Solomon House resident, “Prior to moving into the Solomon House, David lived in a group home that did not practice Judaism. We always wanted him to be able to practice his religion but there were so few opportunities. Now, he will have a chance to live in a kosher home, participate in Jewish holidays and celebrations, and reconnect with the Jewish community.”
