The Caring Committee continues to be busy taking care of our congregants. If you know someone could use some homemade soup, please let me know. Obviously, we always need more soups put in our freezer. When you leave some soup in the freezer, please let me know. Also, please put the date on the container(s), the type of soup, and your name. I can let everyone know that I have enjoyed some of those soups over the past few months.
Also, I would like it very much if someone would take on the responsibility to make small kugels. You would set up a date to make small kugels. This wonderful person would pick the recipe, plan on a date to make them in the Temple kitchen. People could also make them at home. It would be wonderful if two people would take on this mitzvah.

I have been thinking of ways to change this committee. At this point, some time in July or maybe in August, I would like to have a kugel making day (making small kugels). Many of you have reached out to me and are willing to make the kugels. That is wonderful. I would like to make small ones and freeze them and then, as soon as we become aware of a need, we could pull one out and take it to a family.
What are people’s thoughts?
Last month, I asked for help creating a note that we could take with the small kugels. Please reach out to me and help me write it. Writing something like that is not easy for me and we want it to look nice.
We would also come up with a note which would tell congregants what is available from the Caring Committee of Temple David. I hear all the time, “I didn’t know that you did this.”
We can give it a try and see what happens. I will need people to deliver the kugels and notes.
Are you willing to help? Please let me know.

The Jewish Fertility Foundation Comes to Pittsburgh
In May 2022, Jewish Fertility Foundation Pittsburgh opened its doors, thanks to a generous grant from The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. The Jewish Fertility Foundation (JFF) is a non-profit founded in 2016 in Atlanta Georgia, and has now expanded to four other cities, including Pittsburgh. JFF offers grants for Jewish individuals or couples with medical infertility, emotional support through support groups and a fertility buddy program for those undergoing infertility and their family members, and educational programming, awareness and advocacy within the Jewish Community.
Temple David Member, Erika Schmitt, served as head of the exploratory committee to help bring JFF to Pittsburgh. Temple David Member, JoAnn White, also served on the committee. Both plan to continue onto the Pittsburgh Advisory Council for JFF, with Erika serving as chair.
If you would like more information about JFF and its services, or have interest in volunteering, please contact Erika at egs713@gmail.com or 412-818-2818.

I am so pleased to see that we now have opened up our building and you can go without masks. I sure hope that we continue this positive movement towards the end of the COVID Pandemic.
I have been thinking of ways to change this committee. Some time in June, I would like to have a kugel making day. I would like to make small kugels and freeze them, and then we could pull one out and take it to a family at the time of need.
I will need help making the kugels and if you are not comfortable to be in the kitchen, I could give you a recipe to use at home.
What are people’s thoughts?
We would also come up with a flyer which would tell families what services are available from the Caring Committee for various situations. I hear all the time that “I didn’t know you provided this service.” We can give it a try and see what happens. I will also need people to deliver kugels and flyers.
Are you willing to help? Please let me know.

Recently, we have been transporting many of our congregants to a lot of appointments! The committee thinks this is wonderful! Please remember that it is a mitzvah to help others. Think about this and consider sending me an e-mail to join my list of drivers. Our congregants really appreciate these free rides to various appointments.
I am always looking for homemade soups in the freezer at the Temple. When you make your wonderful soups, please make some extra and put it in the freezer at the Temple. Please put your name, the date, and type of soup on the container. Also mark that your soup is for the Caring Community. Then e-mail or call me so I know that you left the soup in the freezer.

The Caring Community has been remarkably busy over the past few months! We have been driving congregants to doctors’ appointments, and preparing and delivering meals to congregants who need some help. Do you have time to drive someone somewhere? Can you make soup, freeze it, and take it to Temple David and put it in the freezer? If you put soup in the freezer, please let me know. I must admit I am not at Temple as much as I was before the Pandemic.
I am also asking if you know someone that needs help, please let me know. Temple David is a caring community and we are here to help others!

Hello everyone,
Our committee has been very busy over the past few months delivering home-cooked meals to recuperating family members.
The committee is looking for other cooks who would be willing to be on our list to prepare meals. Please e-mail me and let me know that you can help. I send out a SignUp Genius request when things are needed.
We are also looking for homemade soups. Sometimes our congregants only need homemade soup. Please leave containers of soup in the Temple freezer, and label with the date and kind of soup. (Bev is at the temple on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Please let me know when you have left soup in the freezer.

Caring Community Update
Our committee has been busy helping our fellow congregants. Thanks to everyone for making soup and putting it in the freezer at Temple David. We sure could use more quarts of soup to give out. Please check to make sure Beverly is in the office. With all these small snowstorms, her days and hours could change. I would appreciate knowing if you put some soup in the freezer. Please put your name, type of soup, and the date.
We have one family who we are providing meals for twice a week. Please let me know if you are interested in providing a meal. Please call or e-mail me and I will send you the SignUp Genius link. We also have requests for rides to medical appointments and rides to hospitals. If you would like to be added to my list, give me a call or send an e-mail.

The Caring Community continues to be very busy! We now have 17 callers, contacting our membership.
We are asking if you receive a recorded message from your caller, please return the phone call because we are all concerned for each congregant’s well-being.
We have now entered our third month of social distancing. It is not easy. Be safe! If you need help please call your Caring Community caller, or Kay Liss (724-910-8474), or Rabbi Symons (412-736-4335).
We hope to see you at the Annual Congregational Meeting on Zoom on Monday, June 1. We will begin to gather at 6 p.m. and the Meeting will commence at 6:30 pm.
