Lunches with the Rabbi

There is no agenda. These monthly lunches are simply a lovely way to gather together, share a good meal, meet new Temple David members and connect with friends, even if it is your lunch break.

Please join us at Noon.

Hebrew Free Loan

Though nationally in existence since 1904, I only recently became aware of the Hebrew Free Loan Association in Pittsburgh and its work. HFL provides a service to Jews and non-Jews alike by offering “free loans”–meaning loans without interest. The requirement has been that one who is eligible must have a co-signer who lives in Allegheny County and holds property. In case someone doesn’t have that guarantor, the member rabbis of the Greater Pittsburgh Rabbinic Association are contributing funds in order to leverage an ability to provide help to any member of any of our congregations that we cannot do on our own. You too can contribute to this fund (make sure to note “GPRA” on your check) in order to further our help.

Todah Rabbah!

Thank you to all of the service leaders and teachers and callers who took on extra roles so that I could take my sabbatical. For almost three months, I witnessed from behind the scenes as Temple’s lay leaders led with knowledge, skill, creativity, humor, compassion, and joy. There are few congregations which could allow their rabbi a sabbatical for that lengthy time without hiring a substitute but Temple David could. Together, may we go from strength to strength.
