Lunch in the Sukkah

Monday, October 14 at Noon (approximately)

After the 10 a.m. Morning Worship Service, please join us to fulfill the mitzvah of eating in the Sukkah. Bring your lunch and drinks will be provided. There may even be some leftover desserts!

Did you know that “stuffed foods” are traditionally eaten on Sukkot? According to My Jewish Learning, these foods “symbolize how after the bountiful summer harvest, we are stuffed or wrapped in G-d’s blessing.” (See tinyurl.com/y4jsy4uf)

Traditional items include kreplach (dumplings/wontons), huluptzes (stuffed cabbage), varenikeh (pierogi), and knishes (small pies stuffed with meat or potato or kasha (buckwheat), or all three!). Are you already feeling the heartburn? Something in pita bread or a wrap would also qualify!

Vegan Potluck Shabbat Dinner
in the Sukkah

Friday, October 18 at 6 p.m.

On the Shabbat of Sukkot, the Fall Harvest Festival, join us for our fourth annual vegan potluck dinner. Vegan means no animal products—no meat, chicken, fish, eggs, or dairy. Consider what you can make from vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, or legumes, and bring enough to share.

For recipe ideas, please visit www.plantbasedeatinghub.com.
Questions? Contact Stan Beck at stanb@templedavid.org or (412) 491-0313.
