WELCOMING REFUGEES

Our faiths also teach us to welcome the stranger and care for those without homes or safety. You can submit a welcome letter for our newest neighbors from Afghanistan. They will be compiled in a book for each new arrival.

Jewish Family and Community Services in Pittsburgh is collecting welcome letters for new neighbors.  Figure out what you want to say. Then go the www.jfcspgh.org. Look for the black banner at the top of the home page. It says “To help Afghan Refugees, click on ‘Click Here’” and then scroll down to Welcome Home Book. You can submit your letter.

 THANKSGIVING GATHERING

We will be gathering at Monroeville United Methodist Church to share from our traditions how Thanksgiving touches our hearts and is expressed in our lives. Hear different expressions from sacred writings, songs, and poetry from each of our traditions. Then we will have time to reflect on what we have heard, and share with each other our thanks and ways we can touch the world with our gratitude.

Come join us! Monday November 22 at 7 p.m. at Monroeville United Methodist Church, 219 Center Road, Monroeville. RSVP to MUMC@MonroevilleUMC.org or (412) 372-7474, to let us know that you are coming and how many are in your group so that we can plan accordingly.

Efforts are underway to offer this online as well. Please call or e-mail the MUMC office for an update. Masks are required and social distancing will be in effect.
