Tashlich Ritual at Valley Park (Aber’s Creek)
in Monroeville

Monday, September 30 at 4 p.m.

Please come together at Aber’s Creek to join in the powerfully simple ritual of tashlich, meaning―casting. During tashlich, we cast off our sins by symbolically placing them on bread and throwing them into a stream of flowing water.

Having closed the machzor, and standing in the midst of nature, it is another opportunity to do some soul searching in the midst of our community.

Please bring drinks, snacks, and desserts to share at the park.

Even if you have never joined us before, please join us this year.

Please contact JoAnn Lippock at (412) 824-4944 or joannl@templedavid.org
if you need any additional information.

Yom Kippur Afternoon Study Session

Wednesday, October 9 at 1:30 p.m.

On Yom Kippur afternoon, Bruce Antonoff will present Our Short Stay in Eden or Who Told the Lie, a close reading of the story of Adam and Eve. Please join us after the morning service to study together.

After the study session, there will be quiet time to reflect, prior to the Afternoon and Concluding services.

RSVPs preferred by October 2
412-372-1200 or tdoffice@templedavid.org

Please contact JoAnn Lippock at (412) 824-4944 or joannl@templedavid.org
if you need any additional information.

Lunch in the Sukkah

Monday, October 14 at Noon (approximately)

After the 10 a.m. Morning Worship Service, please join us to fulfill the mitzvah of eating in the Sukkah. Bring your lunch and drinks will be provided. There may even be some leftover desserts!

Did you know that “stuffed foods” are traditionally eaten on Sukkot? According to My Jewish Learning, these foods “symbolize how after the bountiful summer harvest, we are stuffed or wrapped in G-d’s blessing.” (See tinyurl.com/y4jsy4uf)

Traditional items include kreplach (dumplings/wontons), huluptzes (stuffed cabbage), varenikeh (pierogi), and knishes (small pies stuffed with meat or potato or kasha (buckwheat), or all three!). Are you already feeling the heartburn? Something in pita bread or a wrap would also qualify!

Vegan Potluck Shabbat Dinner
in the Sukkah

Friday, October 18 at 6 p.m.

On the Shabbat of Sukkot, the Fall Harvest Festival, join us for our fourth annual vegan potluck dinner. Vegan means no animal products—no meat, chicken, fish, eggs, or dairy. Consider what you can make from vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, or legumes, and bring enough to share.

For recipe ideas, please visit www.plantbasedeatinghub.com.
Questions? Contact Stan Beck at stanb@templedavid.org or (412) 491-0313.
